Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

the local officer keeps telling me i can be locked up for contributing to the delinquency of a minor for speaking to my girlfriend after her father said not to, the judge(in a case when he tried to get a no contact order on me) told her father we are not breaking any laws and even if he got the order on me we would still talk i am 18 she is 17 do we need her father's consent to text/email/talk or was the cop mistaken nowhere in IC 35-46-1-8 does it say i need his consent to speak to her .

Just for talking to her, no, you can't be locked up. For telling her to disobey her parents, see you with out their permission, maybe even do something that is illegal? Yes, you could be arrested for those things. It is the SUBSTANCE of the conversations that will get you in trouble.

If you want the best for her, you would follow her parent's rules until she is 18.
