Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

I lost my job in september of 08. While I was unemployed I continued to pay my child support directly to my ex instead of through the courts. I have receipts and she will not dispute that I am current on my payments to her. Since I began working again we have decided to mutually modify our divorce decree as it relates to child support. Will the state except that I have paid based on the receipts and her acknowlegment of my payments or will they consider me in the rears?

You will also need an affidavit from her regarding the payments. In my experience, this is enough so that the state will not consider you to be in arrears. However, I encourage you to make use of the state system for paying child support. If you use that, you will not face this issue again.
