Madien Name

Is a divorced woman allowed to go back to her madien name , Even if in the divorce degree it says that at that time of the divorce she did not wish too? She has been divorced for 7 yrs and wants to change her last name back to her madien name and the BMV of Indiana says she can not, But Social Security did not have a problem and they changed it, But now the state will not give her a new ID. She is diabled and so far the only people that has a problem is the state of Indiana, Her dovorce was in KY.

If she presently lives in Indiana, she needs to petition the court for a name change. This is a comparatively easy process and there are forms at the Indiana Judiciary Web Site that are easy to understand.
