Marriage/Divorce

I'm a US citizen that was married in Haiti 25 years ago. Now I would like to separate from my husband. All asset have been sold and divided. Was my marriage legal in the US? Do I have to get a divorce or can I just walk away?

The marriage needs to be dissolved legally.
