Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
Do maternal grandparents in Indiana have any legal right to prevent the mother from being with her child? My parents kept my son (22 months old) for about 6 months while I was looking for employment and a place to live. I now have a stable situation and am ready to take my son. I never signed any papers giving them any rights whatsoever. They are saying that I can't have him and that to get him back I will have to involve the law. What would be the best course of action to get my son back.

The next time you see him, pick him up and walk right out of the house. Of course, you will not be able to ask your parents for help ever again if things get bad. While you can involve the law, you should ask your parents what they are looking for first. Talk it out with them, with the help of a minister or family friend, before doing anything drastic.
