Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Medical decissions on my behalf for my daughter

I am going on a trip to Italy in a few weeks. My 7 year old daughter is staying with my boyfriend. Her father lives 65 miles away. Waht do I have to do before I leave to allow my boyfriend to make medical decisions if she get hur or sick while I'm gone? We live in Indiana and my daughter and I have lived with my boyfriend for the last 5 years if that makes any difference.

Re: Medical decissions on my behalf for my daughter

My best advice is to let father know you are going away, and give him the opportunity to care for your daughter. That is what the parenting time guidelines in Indiana would require.

If father voluntarily chooses not to care for his daughte during that time, then the next best person would be your boyfriend, and an attorney can prepare a consent to authorize medical treatment for you.
