Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My mom passed in June. She was at a nursing home and medicare was paying the bill. Her medicare ran out before she passed and medicaid denied her payment. She owed a bill of $3100. The nursing home is now coming after me as her son. My question is can they do that? Am I responsible for her bill?

If you did not agree to be liable or to guarantee the bill, you should be o.k. However, I do agree with Jay's suggestion.
