Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My mother in law has threatened me with granparents rights but the reason I will not take my son over to see her is because she has a well known drug user living with her who has already threatened to do harm to my wife and kid. Is there any way I can stop my son's grandmother from getting him. I have offered to meet her somewhere so she could see him just not around the drug user.

In Indiana, the court can grant visitation rights to a grandparent if the court determines that visitation would be in the best interests of the grandchild. A grandparent may only be entitled to visitation if

The grandchilds parent is dead, or

the marriage of the grandchilds parents are divorced or

the child was born outside of marriage. However, if you are the father's parents, paternity has to be established.

Based on the information provided, she has no legal rights, so you can pretty much dictate when and where she sees your son.
