Moving to another state with my boyfriend and son

I am a single mom who has full custody of my son, but his dad pays child support and sees his son on weekends. The prosecutors office is telling me that i have to write a letter to my ex telling him why i am taking my son out of state and then go to court. how do i go about this?

If you are moving a distance away- I believe the rule is more than 60 miles. You will need to file for a modification of parenting guidelines.

Since you are moving a great distance away, you will need to set up new visitation guidelines. You will need to explain why you're moving.

Re: Moving to another state with my boyfriend and son

There are specific requirements that you must follow. Just sending a letter saying why you are moving is not enough. There are time guidlines, content as well as content guidelines.

Your childs father can ask for a hearing. You need to review the requirement in the Indiana Code at chapter 31. Your best bet is to hire an attorney to make sure that everything is done correctly.
