Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

I am needing to hyphenate my son's name to have my maiden name with his father's name but I need to know which of the last names will be his legal last name for documents & such.

If you give your son the name Ben Smith-Jones, his last name is Smith-Jones. Not Smith, not Jones; the whole thing.
