Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

parental rights-visitation

If a father pays child support, does that mean he automatically is entitled to visitation? Can he pay and never see the baby?

Re: parental rights-visitation

A father is entitled to visitation, according to the terms of the Indiana Parenting Time Guidelines UNLESS a court has specifically modified the visits because the parent has been deemed unfit (like molestations have occurred) or some other reason exists and is cited in court documents to deviate from the guidelines.

A non-custodial parent isn't REQUIRED to exercise that visitation, but he is certainly allowed to, unless barred by the court for some reason.

It's a right, not a duty.

Hope this helps.
