Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

petition the court.

how do I petition the court for grandparent rights? My daughter is suffering from mental issues and the father(they were never married) has the child she wanted to give us,her parents temp. gaurdianship over her baby until she is well, I was advised however this could not be done. But the father is refusing to let us visit. C.P.S. is involved and is not helping us,so our only option is to petition the court for grandparents rights or whatever we can get but we do not know how.

Re: petition the court.

If there is already a case that determined paternity, you can petition in that court. If not, you will have to start a case in your local courthouse. If you do not know how to do this, you will need to hire counsel as the nuts and bolts of how to do something is beyond the scope of this forum.
