Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

my ex purchased a cell phone for our son. I have grounded our son from the phone for his filthy language and his other parent says I cannot do that because the other parent purchased it. I have a right to ground my child from the phone no matter who purchased it. The other parent can still contact our son through our home phone as always. What I want to know is can I take the phone as punishment? I would much rather my son not even bring it home.

The rules regarding cell phones and internet usage are still evolving. Keeping in mind that it is the responsiblity of the custodial parent to foster a healthy relationship between the child and non-custodial parent, it probably is overkill to completely ground the child from the phone use.

Perhaps, you can restrict it to usage between the other parent and child and if that trust is violated, then take it away and give it back to the other parent.
