Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

relinquish parental rights

I am pregnant and the biological father is consenting to terminate his parental rights. I've seen that in many states this can only be done if there is another man to adopt the child. Is this required under Indiana law? Also, what is the process? If there is no way for me to obtain sole custody without a ''replacement dad'', can my parents adopt the child and then relinquish sole custody to me?

Re: relinquish parental rights

The biological father will have to consent to an adoption. There is no way short of an adoption for his rights to be terminated. Yes,your parents could adopt your child and then relinquish custody to you. However there may be other alternatives. You should contact an attorney.
