Representing myself

I want to file for modification of child support. I can't afford an attorney. I have though been able to print out the Indiana Child Support Obligation Worksheet and have filled it out appropriately. Can I ask for modification by representing myself with the Child support guidelines worksheet? Is there a way I can represent myself and approach the judge with these forms?

One must always be careful with pro se representation. There is simply no substitute for the skills of an experienced attorney. However, you would need to file a petition for modification first. If in Marion county, one would also need to fill out a financial declaration and child support work sheet. These must be exchanged with the other side prior to the hearing. At the hearing present your work sheet, declaration and any other information you have which applys to the issues identified. The court will not assist you with the work sheets prior to the hearing. Do your home work. You will be held to the same standard as if an attorney.
