Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My rights as a teen mother

When the baby is born can I give it my last name? If I do not include the father on the birth certificate, does that mean he has no rights?

You can. However, the father can petition the court to have the name changed and can even seek custody and child support from you, leaving you with just visitation and an obligation to pay child support.

I suggest that you and the fahter talk about how to be good parents for the benefit of that child who needs a mother and a father to work together.
