Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My same sex partner and I are being given an opportunity to adopt an unborn child, the mother is 19, has had 1 abortion already and the woman who is taking care of her has got her to put this one up for adoption. She wants to give it to us as we are unable to have children for medical reasons. How do we go about doing this, do we need to get parental rigthts dropped, or do we simply petition the court for adoption? What is the cheapest way to do this? As I said, she wants us to have the baby, the father is 15 years her senior and already has 5 kids, he doesn't want this one. We really want this child and would appreciate your help.

Congratulations. What a wonderful life opportunity for the two of you. I have handled these types of matters for same sex couples before. This is far too important for you to handle yourselves as the implications of a faulty adoption can be long term and very harmful to all. Hire counsel.
