Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Sexual Harassment after divorce

I have been divorced for almost 11 years and never dated or remarried by choice. My ex husband now sends me text messages asking for sex and even went as far as to send my pictures of his gentials. He has remarried and has a child with the current wife. He even stopped having contact with the child we have together. But still sends these kinds of text messages. He has also threatened to kill me in the past. I am sick of living in fear and always looking over my shoulder everywhere I go. What can I do legally to make this all stop?

1. Forward the messages to his wife.

2. Change your cell number, and see if your phone/phone service allows you to block messages from a particular number.

3. If he gets a message through anyway, delete it without looking at it.

4. If those steps fail, seek a restraining order ( I assume the "threat to kill" was at some time in the past and you did not take action against him regarding that at that time.

Re: Sexual Harassment after divorce

Based on the submission, you are entitled to a civil protetective order and shoul get one. They are free and available at your locak courthouse. You do not need an attorney.

I disagree with the suggestion of the other attorney to send these to his wife. Doing so, may ultimately cause you more grief, especially, if he has, in the past, threatened to kill you.

I do agree that you should either change your cell phone number or block texts if a restraining order does not do the job for you.

Good luck
