Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Sign Away Parental Rights

A woman I dated 10 yrs ago had a child and said at the time she did not think I was the father of the child. She moved away and I haven't heard from her until now. The child is now 9 yrs old. I am in Indiana she is in Alabama. I received a letter from her stating she needs me to send her a statement giving up my parental rights so that her husband can adopt the child. I have never met the child (since she told me she didn't think I was the father) and my name was not listed on the birth certificate. Do I really need to submit the letter for her husband to adopt the child? Since I was not listed on the birth certificate, do I have any parental rights to begin with?
