Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Ex son-in-law wants to emancipate 18 yr old son so he doesn`t have to pay child support while son in college. I thought the child had to file for an emancipation. Son went to college(first yr) on scholarship and help form diabertes foundation somehow. Father won`t help with an any money or needs son has. We help as much as we can but father is being a jerk. What support my daughter gets goes toward car pament and insurance for son. If father gets out of support son will lose car..afraid he will have to quit college. Can you please answer this emancipation question for me asap? Thank you
