Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

In the State of Indiana, Is there a law that says you have to have Court Ordered Child support for a 19 year old in order for him to receive his "Step Father's" Insurance.

I am sending $300.00 a month to my son for education & my ex-wife is trying to get me to sign an agreement beyond that to send in to court. I don't beleive that a court ordered requirement is necessary from me in order for our son to receive Insurance from his step dad. I believe the two subjects 2 are unrelated.

Thank-You for any help!

David

You need to privide a better explanation of what it is that you are sending. Is it child support? Is the $300 for college expenses? In Indiana, child support continues until age 21 unless there is an emancipation. If your child is attending school fulltime after age 18 and not living at home, child support is adjusted since the cost at home for maintaining an empty bedroom is far less than when he lives at home and is not at school.

You really need to consult with an attorney in person and bring your divorce decree in for review.
