Taking child out of state - legal?

In the state of Indiana, can a separated but not divorced parent take their child out of state to visit legally? Can they take them out of state to live legally? If papers have not yet been filed.

If the separation is not a legal one, yes. However, the other parent can file for dissolution before the move is made and seek an immediate restraining order.
