Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

A Teen Confused.

My question is that, if a parent has a alcohol problem and refuses to see that they do and takes their anger out on their oldest child, mostly emotional and rarely physical, and that parent will not allow the child to move out to live with the other parent, what can the child do to be able to move out?

The child should ask the non-custodial parent to file a petition to modify custody. Alternatively, he can go to his school officials or family doctor and explain the problem to them. This may cause the involvement of the child protection services, but that may be preferrable to a miserable life with an alcoholic parent and another parent who doesn't seem to care.
