Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Temporary Guardianship

Over a year ago, I had a baby. I just turned 18 and was still living with my parents. My mother convinced me to sign temporary guardianship papers over to her so she could take my daughter to the doctors or hospital if needed. I agreed. For the past year I have been asking her to give her back and she always comes up with excuses as to why I am not capable of taking care of her. I feel as though it is just a control thing with her. She was always used to telling me what to do and now that I moved out she uses my daughter, so she can still tell me what to do. I have had the same job for a year and 3 months and Ive lived in my home 10 months. It's a very clean two bedroom home, and I live here with her father. I am signed up at a community college for social work. What can I possibly do to get my daughter back.

Re: Temporary Guardianship

Petition the court to terminate the guardianship as you are now able to provide a safe and stable environment for your child. Be sure to invetigate child care options for the time when you are at work as the court may ask you about what the plans are.

Good luck
