Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

terminating guardianship

i am trying to terminate my mother's guardianship over my 2 kids. The kids were taken in 1997 by cps and guardianship was done in 1999. I have not paid anything until recently but i have provided clothes and shoes plus school supplies and transportation to appointments and karate. I have not worked until this past year but i have held that job for a year now and i have maintained my home for 2 years. My mother had no problem using me for what suited her needs but now she is becoming abusive towards my oldest child. I filed to get them back and court is tomorrow. I am not sure what to do in court...i am going pro se..so is my mom. Any advise??

Re: terminating guardianship

Look at the grounds for the guardianship as set forth in 1999 and adress how those grounds no longer exist. Show the court how things have changed. Bring documentation if possible. Bring pictures of you and the kids in activities, etc. Bring pictures of your home. If the kids will be in a new school, make sure you know all of the facts about the school, and what counseling is available for new students.
