Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My name is Todd and I found out I was a father 17 years ago have been paying support regularlyfor the most part out of work for about 6 months other then that been faithful to my payments my son is 18 now has his own family and place but the records show that I am 8,000 behind I my self don't see how I could be when I HAVE BEEN PAYING all these years can someone please help me.

You need to hire a local attorney as it is my guess that you stopped paying support without obtaining a court order for emacipation.

If you are saying that your son is now out of school and on his own, you have to file a motion to emancipate him. Support ends automaticaly at 21, NOT at 18. If you are saying that arrears build up over the past 18 years, get a copy of your support record from the clerk's office where the support was ordered, take copies of all support orders, and go have an attorney make the computations to see if you are really 8000 behind.
