Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Unmarried couple

I just got out of a relationship that ended bad. We have lived together for 6 months where I paid for everything, when it was supposed to pay half. I was nice and said I will pay till you get on your feet. now that the relationship has turn bad and can not repay me for the bills and misc. things I provided, she wants out of the lease. she can not come up with half of the money to pay the breakage and wants me to sign her off the lease and take total control of everything. leaving me to continue paying for everything. can I go to small claims court and 1. compasated for passed bills? and 2. can I do anything about the current lease to make her pay?

Re: Unmarried couple

Unless the other party disputes in court what the terms of your agreement were or are, you have the right to collect back from the other party 1/2 of the monies spent and 1/2 the future costs of fulfilling the lease. However, it may be that the judge might interpret the agreement that you would pay until the other party got financially better off that the splitting of expenses would not occur until that time and that you had no intention of collecting back on the bills you have already paid.
