Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Visitation Question

My ex husband is an over-the road semi-driver. It's a new career for him and he's only been doing it about 2 months. He wants to take one of our sons (14 yr. old) on the road with him for two weeks (during a school break). My ex-husband doesn't make good decisions where the kids are concerned (he lets them watch pornography, etc) and I don't think spending two weeks on the road is a good idea for the 14 year old. We follow the Parenting Guidelines for Indiana. Can I stop him from taking my son with him on the road? Thanks.

Re: Visitation Question

You should be able to petition the court to prohibit the trip. The court will base its decision on what is in your child's best interest. I doubt that the court will feel that being in the environment of an over- road-trucker at his age is in his best interest. Good luck
