Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
Wife Wants Too Much
Wife wants divorce and sole custody.
The kids and I want shared custody.
The kids are 15 and 17.
They spend 3-4 days per week with me.
She's a manicurist.
She doesn't want to work 40 hrs/week.
She charges $20 for fills; $40 for a full
set of nails.
Jan 1 to Mar 31 she had 390 clients. At $20 per
client (low since I've not figured tips and that
some of those are full sets) she made $7800 in
three months.
She'd make $30000+ this year easy.
She's told her lawyer she makes $12-15000 per
year.
I make $37500 per year.
I'm paying the health insurance.
I'm making my daughters car payment (187.63)
I'm a good father.
Don't drink.
Don't smoke.
92 Father of the Year.
Only missed six of my children's
games/activities in17 years.
She's missed most of them.
She's forced me into bankruptcy.
I've reaffirmed on $13000 of debt.
She's reaffirmed on nothing.
She wants $100 per week and for me to continue
to pay all medical/dental bills, health
insurance, school book rental fees and my
daughter's car payment. I believe this to be
unfair (so do the kids).
What would be a fair (ballpark) support
payment?

Re: Wife Wants Too Much
Child support isn't negotiable. It's based on her income vs. your income and who has custody and how it's split up.
Given what you've told me, I wouldn't go to court without an attorney. She's going for blood.
In Indiana, at age 14, children have a strong say so in where they go. They don't actually decide, but the judge will give strong credence to what their wishes are.
