Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
My wife and I are getting ready to file for divorce and I am also getting ready to purchase a very lucrative business, but am afraid that this will complicate the divorce. If I file for divorce prior to the purchase of the business will the business be exempt even if I close on it before the divorce is final or do I have to finalize the divorce first?

You need to contact an attorney to discuss this in detail and to explain the entire divorce process and how assets can be divided, etc. if you want to be assured of protecting those interests. good luck.

Burton is absolutely correct. There are a multitude of factors that can come into play here. If it is a lucrative business, it is worth spending the money NOW to protect it.
