Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

''Cause will be dismissed'' in a divorce case

I am helping a foreign friend with her divorce paperwork and she is using my address because she has moved back overseas. I just got a notice saying ''Cause will be dismissed at a hearing at (time) on (day), unless sufficient cause be shown. See rule T.R. 41(E).

What does this mean? What if she can't make it back to the States for the hearing?

It means her case will be dismissed due to a lack of activity unless she can give the court a reason for not dismissing the case. I suggest that you find out whther she wants to pursue the case and if she does, she needs to hire counsel.
