Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Hello, I was wondering, my parents are about to go through a divorce. They haven't technically filed for divorce yet... (but will be soon)

My dad doesn't want my mom to have the car in the divorce... well, it's in his name, he's payed for it for so long and I was just wondering, if my dad "sold" me the car, or signed ownership of the car over to me, she couldn't take it, because the divorce hasn't been officially filed yet, right? Could he do this with other things, like just start giving me stuff within the house that he wouldn't want taken so I could claim ownership in the divorce? Could I sign the car back over to him after the divorce goes through? If you were wondering I'm 21

Regardless of whose name the car is in, your mother has rights to one half. Your father is not allowed to commit what is known as marital waste and selling or trnasferring property in the manner that you described is waste. He ultimately will have to provide your mother with one half of the value of those assets.
