if a case happened two years ago can it still be brought to court

It depends on what type of case. There are limitations imposed by law with different time periods, such as negligence claims (2 years) and breach of contract claims (6 or 10 years depending on whether the contract is in writing). There may also be a shorter time period for filing a lawsuit imposed by a contract.
