Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

Customer moved to different state and never paid on contracted car purchase

as my heading states, a customer purchased a car placing a down payment on the car and then moved to Illinois. The customer has advised me there is nothing i can do because the amount does not exceed $6,000.00 and anything I do in small claims is useless because the customer will not show up for court. Can you give me some insights on my options. This person has never made a payment on the contract, other than the downpayment.

You are able to sue in a higher court. He/she may still not pay but you could get a judgment and, if he/she has any assets, you could execute on the judgment in Illinois, the place of residence. You will need an experienced attorney to work through the matter. Mary
