A 17 year old can request emancipation from the local juvenile court. It is very rarely given, and requires presentation of a plan for success, as well as explanation as to why emancipation is a good idea. Generally, wanting to live with a boyfriend or girlfriend, or not liking a parent's rules, are NOT sufficient reasons to justify emancipation.
