Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

what can i do if someone is saying that I have an extensive criminal record? they have verbally said it in open court and have transmitted documents to the Indiana Attorney General?(slander/libel/defmation?) I have NO criminal record. I have had 3 background checks done due to being a licensed professional and the background requirment is a requirment and 2 very small minor NON criminal things come up. One from 1979, one 1985. The one from 1985 is a failure to appear on a traffic ticket and I had very good reasons for not appearing and when the evidence for non appearance was presented, the charge was dropped. This person will not stop and I really really need help, I live in Central Indiana area and am guessing I would have to intiate something to make them stop in the area I live in????

You will need to hire an attorney. These cases are very difficult and time consuming for both the attorney and the client and can be expensive, I suggest that you have the attorney try a cease and desist letter first. If that does not work, you may have to file a lawsuit. The ultimate problem is that if you are dealing with an individual, collecting a judgment may prove to be difficult.

Usually, lawsuits are filed where the defendant is located.
