Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

sold my car to my 17 year old cousin. parents agreed to let him do it. now after trading in my car without my permission he is failing to pay me. his parent said i will receive no more money. he still owes me 700 dollars. do i have a chance in small claims since he was 17? i have a contract between the two of us stating he was only 17 and was purchasing it as an adult with the responsibilities of an adult.

Calling him an adult does not make him an adult, anymore than calling a chicken a pig makes it a pig. If he still owed you money, you should have placed a lien on the title which would have protected you. If the parents signed the contract, they may be liable. Otherwise, if he raises the defense of his age in small claims court, he should win.
