Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana
Being Sued 4K for a neighbor's dog absence
I have a court data coming up on Sept. 6th. My husband and I are being sued for the disappearance of our neighbor's dog. We did not hav any kind of contract or relationship of us ever being in care of this dog. The dog would escape several times a day, no id, nothing to restrain. When approached by neighbor's bodily harm was threatened to my husband because of the plaintiff accusing us of losing their dog, we did not care for this dog, we have four of our own. If I could get a reasonable response or any opinions on this I would greatly appreciate it. Since the missing of the dog two weeks later after the dog went lost they got two new dogs. And filed a claim of 4K several months after the disappearance.

When someone files a bogus complaint at law, that is known as malicious prosecution. Hire a lawyer to defend, then when you win the case, file a suit against them for malicious prosecution and ask for your costs, including attorney fees in the prior action and the new action.
