Legal Question in Immigration Law in Indiana
How Do I Bring My Fiance To The U.S. From Another Country?
My fiance is a citizen of Abidjan (Ivory Coast) and I would like to bring her to the United States to be with me. What will I need to do to accomplish this? I do not know where to start.

The following advice is assuming that you are a U.S. citizen (if you have some other status I would present other information to you). As a fiancee you could bring her here on a K-1 visa (fiancee visa). In the alternative, if you were to return home, get married, and file the paperwork her, you would be able to make use of the K-3 visa. Finally, the third option is to get married and file paperwork which would entitle her to get her greencard directly at the consulate in the home country. There are a variety of ways to approach this and various filings. I try to give my clients an understanding of how long each step takes and what is involved. If you would like to discuss this further you may contact me at (732) 985-1310.

Are you a US Citizen? If so, the K-1 Fiance visa is an option for you. If not, there are other options which can be explored more fully in a consultation.
You can view my website at www.neenalaw.com for an article on the K visa option.

She may be eligible for a finace visa that would allow her to enter for the purpose of marrying you. Then she can adjust her status to a lawful permanent resident.
