Legal Question in Immigration Law in Indiana

married to an illegal

I got married to my illegal husband a year ago in New Mexico. He has been in the U.S. since 1995. He has worked since his arrival and obtained a ITIN number so he has filed taxes for 6 yrs. What are the steps need to get his citizenship without him having to leave the country since he is my soul provider.

If he entered the U.S. illegally and never had a petition filed for him in the past, then he'll have to eventually leave the U.S. to apply for his permanent residence in conjunction with a waiver application.

It's probably best to discuss this matter in detail with an immigration attorney to better understand your options.
