Legal Question in Immigration Law in Indiana

Status Change!!

My mother has a green card since 1999. She applied for a green card to her son (my brother who lives in Jordan) who was unmarried and 18 years old at the time. His application (I-130) was approved by the immigration in Sep, 2001 and have been waiting since then for the State Dept. approval. He got married a month ago and obviously he is 25 years old now. How does that affect his application? Does he loose his application? Do we need to do anything now?

Thank you

Re: Status Change!!

By getting married, your brother is no longer eligible to immigrate to the U.S. based on his mother's petition for an unmarried child of a permanent resident. If your mother becomes a U.S. citizen, it may be possible to revive the initial petition.

You may contact me to discuss the matter further.
