Legal Question in Immigration Law in Indiana
What do I need to work with F1 visa?
I just got accepted to a PhD
program. I was looking into getting
financial assistance by working as a
Teacher's Assistance (TA). Can I
work as a TA? What do I need to
get to be able to work legally as a
TA?
Will my working as a TA affect me if
I later choose to file for permanent
residency?

Dear Inquirer:
You need to make a special request with the designated school official for forein students (DSO) at your school to obtain a work permit for on-campus employment. This may be granted as "curricular practical training" as long as certain conditions are met.
