The company that I work for has insurance for domestic partners of same sex but not domestic partners of opposite sex. Isnt that considered discrimination????

Possibly, possibly not. Discrimination means discriminate treatment of similarly situated individuals. An opposite sex partner can marry the employee, the same sex partner cannot. Therefore, an argument can be made that they are not similarly situated.
