Legal Question in Insurance Law in Indiana
My mother has been visiting the U.S. (not a U.S. citizen) and she had a traveler's insurance coverage when she fainted and was transported to a hospital.
The insurance company is refusing the bill on the ground that she had a pre-existing heart condition. We checked all hospital documents and in all of them, the heart condition is described as completely normal.
On the other hand, when we are asking the insurance company to provide us with a letter and tell us the exact reason and evidence for the denial, they just repeat the "pre-existing condition" and refer us to the general insurance agreement guidelines. They have been very hesitant in sending us such a letter. I think they are running a scam.
What are the legal steps we need to take for resolving the issue?
The insurance company is in Indiana and we are in Massachusetts.

The location where any claim would be brought, by or on behalf of your mother, is where the insurance was purchased. So, if she purchased the insurance in Massachusetts, you should consult with a Massachusetts attorney as to your rights.
