Legal Question in Insurance Law in Indiana
Time frame for patient to receive hospital bill
I went to the hospital in December 2002, and just received a bill for my portion in October 2003. Apparently, the hospital sent several claims to my insurance, and just got paid this month. This results in my getting a bill 10 months after service. I heard that I should not be obliged to pay if I have not been billed within 6 months of service. Is this true? Can I avoid paying my balance?
