Legal Question in Employment Law in Indiana

I am a nurse who worked for a nursing home. I was terminated for Gross Negilence. The gross negilence was for 2 residents left in dining area after service was over. The Nurse responsible for that area left the area for it was time for her to go home. The area that I was deligated was serviced earlier. I had retunrd to the unit to assist a patient when I was told the patients were left in the dining area when i went to retrieve the patients 15 minutes had past and the D.O.N had brought the patients to the unit. 3 days latter i was terminated
