Legal Question in Employment Law in Indiana

Pregnant after starting new job

If I start a job and then become pregnant am I protected from being fired? I am afraid that after being there for only a short while, they may get mad and not like the idea of me being pregnant after having just hired me. I realize I may not get a paid maternity leave if I have not been working there for 12 months.

Re: Pregnant after starting new job

The Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 protects you from being fired because you are pregnant. It also protects you from other discrimination

-- such as if others who are not pregnant and who have not worked the 12 months necessary to qualify for FMLA leave are permitted to take extended time off without consequences whereas you are denied the like ability to take unpaid maternity leave.

Please let me know if I can be of any further asistance.
