Legal Question in Employment Law in Indiana
I was recently employed in an apartment cleaning business, and quit after my employer made unwarranted and unwelcome comments on my personal life. I contacted her today (8/17/10) asking about wages owed (I was last paid on 7/25/10, and quit on 8/1/10) and was told that I was given a lower priority in payment time because I quit, and later during our conversation she stated "You know what, I don't think you worked for me." I promptly visited the Indiana DoL website to find out my rights and file a wage claim, but I have no record of hours worked, nor were any provided with my previous pay. I've also noted several egregious issues regarding her company's payment policy (invalid contracts stating payment will be less than every 2 weeks, or bimonthly as stated in IC 22-2-5-1), as well as several illegal hiring practices (I worked with 13 year olds. Seriously.), and am quite concerned with various violations of labor laws, but I am unsure how to proceed with getting my rightly earned wages with no proof of hours worked, or to instigate an investigation into these atrocious business policies.

File a complaint with DOL. You know what hours you worked. If that does not work, hire an attorney.
