Legal Question in Employment Law in Indiana
Is it retaliatory bias?
On 2/18 I was having a problem with one of my employees 'gossiping' with my district manager behind my back. I went one step above the district manager and told of my problem. On 2/19 I received a merit raise, on 2/20 I received stock options, and on 2/23 I received an email stating that there were going to be NO management changes in my store. I have all these emails saved. On 3/19 I was fired for an illogical reason. Every reason the company has given me, I have a rebuttal for. Others are saying that my district manager was 'digging' for reasons to get me fired. The employee that she was gossiping with was bragging about how he knew I was going to be fired because of who he knew. I also have proof of this in an email from an employee who still works there. Can I do anything about this?

Re: Is it retaliatory bias?
From the information that you provided, it sertainly sounds like a retaliatory bias. However, whether it is unlawful will depend on whether you engaged in a protected activity. To determine whether you have engaged in a protected activity, I would need more information.
