Salaried emplyee

I am a salaried employee in Indiana. I work 10 hours a day average and if I take half a day off in the middle of the week can they use the rest of the day as vacation used?

Re: Salaried emplyee

The Fair Labor Standards Act is the federal law that governs the payment of overtime. To be exempt from overtime, your employer must pay you on a salary basis and your job duties must match one of the exemptions. With regard to partial-day deductions, your employer is permitted to use your available vacation in partial-day increments. If you run out of vacation time, your employer is not permitted to make partial-day deductions of your pay. If you would like to know more about your wage and hour rights, I suggest you speak with an employment attorney. Many firms, mine included, offer free telephone consultations. I would be interested in knowing what your job title and job duties are in order to determine whether you have properly been classified as an exempt employee.
